Child Care Aware of NW Washington’s Professional Development Academy

Child Care Aware of NW Washington’s (CCANW) Professional Training Academy offers a variety of classes in the Washington State Core Competencies of Early Care and Education Professionals for STARS hours. Our trainers are MERIT approved and are experts in the early childhood field who have related experience and understanding of your work.

Training offerings support the work you do with Early Achievers and can have follow-up coaching as appropriate. Trainings give you the opportunity to learn together in person, virtually, or at an arranged space to share, interact, and learn.

Training fees can be reimbursed individually through MERIT for those who have MERIT accounts. DCYF offers reimbursement for state-approved training costs for professionals currently employed in a licensed facility. You may apply for a training reimbursement once per DCYF fiscal year (July 1 – June 30) for up to $250, while funding is available. Our classes are MERIT-approved and qualify for reimbursement.

Custom Training Opportunities

CCANW offers customized courses for programs who would like to have training for their entire staff at their site, virtually or at a arranged space. Typically, customized (or in-service) trainings are based on the goals and needs of the center’s program giving a foundation of knowledge. In-service/Customized trainings are aligned with Early Achievers that include collaboration with your Early Achievers coach to continue to reinforce learning. Training can be requested with your program alone, or collaborate with other programs and providers on interested topic.
